If you play fall, winter or spring lacrosse,
or plan to play,
WE NEED your help now.

3. Community Carousel. Sunday December 22, 4:00-7:00pm @ Palmyra Community Center

Out BIG BIG Fundraising Event

We are asking area businesses  to sponsor and decorate Christmas trees or just to sponsor the trees for school clubs & sports teams to decorate.
Dalhou Farms  http://www.daloufarms.com  is generously discounting tree prices to MidMaine Thunder. They are lending us display racks. We will seek lighting supplies. We will charge $30 for tree sponsorship (our cost of tree and lights.)

The trees will be set up @ the Palmyra Community Center for Sunday, December 22.
Businesses and clubs may arrive between 11 and 2pm to decorate 'their' trees.
The public is welcome to view the decorated trees from 4:00pm until 7:00pm.

We will sell tickets @PCC  ($1.00 each or 6 for $5.00). Tickets may be placed for tree and decoration raffle or tickets may be used to purchase food.
Chili's, cocoa, sweets and various foodstuffs will be sold.
Purchased tickets will be used as currency.
We will have two bonfires to keep folks warm.
Two musical slide shows ongoing from 4-7pm.

At 6:00pm we will have a 45 minute production outside (unless weather too too bad then we will head inside) including a Christmas Show Chorus, Brass Quartet and a Piano ensemble tune. There will be a holiday theatrical reading, perhaps a moment of ballet and more.....

At 6:45pm we will award prizes for the best trees.
We will raffle trees and decorations.
We will announce the final winner of our Calendar Raffle (ongoing throughout December).

We need EVERYONE's help to see this succeed. We NEED to earn money for equipment, balls, referees etc.....We cannot wait until spring. The season is too short.

Please get on board. Sell 100 Calendars if possible. Spread the word....Save the Date, Sunday, December 22nd.
If you play more than one sport....volunteer to decorate a tree representing your other sport. Compete for the "Best Decorated Tree Prize" and then encourage all your teammates to attend our Community Carousel.

Community Carousel

ps. what is a Festival of Trees

Festival of Trees
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

is the name taken by a number of (apparently independent) charity events/organizations that hold annual events around Christmas time to raise money for some local charity.
·         Sponsors are obtained who agree to cover costs of advertising, hiring a hall or convention center, obtaining undecorated trees (or wreaths or other traditional holiday decorations) or the cost of a particular tree's decorations, producing a program, or covering other costs.
·         Designers are engaged to decorate/design the trees. Often elaborate theming is employed. Sometimes clubs, schools or other organizations participate as well as professional designers.
·         The hall is opened to the designers or organizations who decorate and arrange the trees.
·         The hall is opened to the general public, often for an admission charge. The public may be able to bid or buy raffle tickets for the trees or other decorations, or for prizes also donated. (typically one of the event goals is to sell every tree that is on display)
·         At some point there may be a black tie gala for contributors or supporters. Presentations about the charity supported are often made.
·         The event usually gets a lot of local media attention before and during the public visitation period
·         There may be other attractions such as children's play areas, craft areas, visits with santa and so forth
·         The event winds down and the purchasers of the trees pick them up or make arrange for delivery
Depending on the size of the municipality where the Festival of Trees is held, there may be several hundred trees of all sizes on display, and the amounts raised can be in the hundreds of thousands USD.

Girls Lacrosse

We should be working on creating a program and attending events such as this.
Any takers...and we will make it happen!

the Fastest Growing Sport in the USA

This is my niece  She played High School Lacrosse and then went on to play college lacrosse for Hobart & William Smith.  Her coach is among the NCAA's active winningest coaches in Division III. Megan was one of a select few, not recruited, who
walked onto the team, tried out and made it. Lacrosse is a great girl's and woman's athletic opportunity.
