Housekeeping

Housekeeping...

Thank you to all MML and community members that assisted with the 2015 Tsothohrha Tree Festival. Thank you to our Sponsors and Decorators.
Thank you very much.

During 2014, MML earned $2000 at this festival which supported our Grade 2-12 Recreational Lacrosse 2015 spring season. The final numbers are not in yet but organizers are convinced we were equally successful in 2015 as we prepare to fund the 2016 K-12 Recreational spring season.

There is work "Yet to be Done"  as the festival closed last evening. The GENEROUS Sponsors and Decorators need updates and written thank you notes. The locker room needs organizing. I checked over the Palmyra Community Center in the daylight this morning. I spoke with Town of Palmyra representatives and they we pleased with the event and our use of their space.
There is follow up conversation required....."What worked? What did not work? How to grow?"

Please reflect upon the event. Jot a few notes and we can discuss all in the Parent/BOD Meeting Thursday, January 14th @ Palmyra Community Center.
TrashCan Lacrosse begins this same evening.
Stay tuned for updates regarding All Pro (and rebates for MS boys.)

We will thank everyone appropriately but that might take a few days to accomplish during this busy season.
In the meantime, thank you all.

And..
If you meet a Sponsor or Decorator pass on your gratitude and share stories about the happy event. That is an easy way for YOU to help your Board of Directors and Festival Organizers.

Thank you 2015. Looking forward to 2016.....

Then they will need many helpers near 3:00pm at Palmyra Community Center.
This Tsothohrha Tree Festival is a good bit of work...but the festival by and large support our whole season spring 2015.

The Countdown is on.....

The Countdown is on.....

Dear Members of MidMaine Lacrosse,

One week from today is the Tsothohrha Tree Festival.

Sunday 12/6 3-6pm Palmyra Community Center

This is MidMaine Lacrosse's annual and largest fund raiser.
This festival earns money for referee expenses, field paint, programs and tournaments.
This festival helps to earn money for athletes that would not be able to play lacrosse without assistance.
50% of any tree's raffle proceeds support the group that decorated the tree. (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Music Groups, RSU #19 and MSAD #53 sport boosters, Latin Club....etc.....)

Last year, the $2000 we earned supported our lacrosse program for grades 2-12. The MidMaine Lacrosse Board of Director's needs assistance from parents and players to see this year's festival a success.

MidMaine Lacrosse has received, thus far, a huge vote of confidence and support as Tech Solutions, Pat's Propane, Somotex, Tech Solutions, Moosehead Trail Veterinary Hospital, Gilman Electric, Crosy & Neal Funeral Homes,Finyl Vinyl, Bud's Shop n' Save, Dalhou Farms, Bowman Constructors, ECOLAB, H2O Water Well Drilling, Newport Family Practice, Bangor Savings Bank, Getchell Construction, 4 Seasons Floral & Gifts and perhaps additional businesses are sponsoring trees. We have had some community members make personal and anonymous donations of $50 to support trees. We expect to add a few additional sponsors.

Thank you to our area businesses!

WE NEED YOU- PARENTS & PLAYERS.

1. The food sign up link is https://www.volunteersignup.org/4TH7A

2. The help sign up link is https://www.volunteersignup.org/P4KEK

3. Please share again and again invitations to all your friends and family to attend the festival. Admission is FREE. Dexter Brass will play from 3-5pm. People can vote from 3-5pm. At 5pm Santa will arrive. There will be a small show (which allows us time to tally tree votes). This link (copy and paste) explains the Tsothohrha Tree Festival happenings in great detail.

On a final note....this Tree Festival is local & free. And while, there are many area tree festivals this season, our event helps many here at home. The Tsothohrha Tree Festival was a marvelous and fun community event in 2015. Tree proceeds supported 20+ area groups as well as MidMaine Lacrosse. People had a very good time. The concession food was great. The music and show were festive.

Inviting everyone you know to attend is a huge & easy way to help your MML organization.

Thank you very much,

MidMaine Lacrosse Board of Director's

Apparel/Bag Order Update Disappointing News

Thank you to All MML members that placed order with MML/ATS.

We hurried these orders, due today,  so that, if we were close to minimum order required amounts, MML could buy the few required extras and sell them at the Tsothohrha Tree Festival 12/6.

Unfortunately, we are not close to the necessary order minimums required to secure the prices the items were offered at. MML can not afford to order "the difference" between those ordered items and the minimums required and sell them at the festival. We do not have enough money.

Tomorrow, I will see if we can extend the sale and hopefully receive more orders, still receive the orders, still get the same price and still receive them in time for delivery prior to 12/25. I will share this information asap.

Perhaps more people will order, even at the Tree Festival, and we can still receive the goods in time for the holiday.

In the meantime, MML did not cash your checks. I can hold them in hopes of increased orders. I can return them. Please share your directive with me.

Thank you for your enthusiastic support of MML.

All Pro The Good New The Bad News The Building News

The Good New The Bad News The Building News

MidMaine Lacrosse remains excited to be working with All Pro Sports to build a Saturday afternoon indoor lacrosse program.

There have been some problems because it's a new program. All the organizers and coaches  have been great to deal with while problem solving.

This is my understanding of the current solutions.

For the remainder of this fall season......

Girls will play as a team or in a "scramble" 12-2pm. A scramble means we will put sticks in the center and draw teams. The structure of play will be decided dependent upon the numbers of players that arrive and coaching choices.

There is also a clinic for girls from 11-12 and MML players are welcome. This is free.

Middle School Boys will unfortunately have to wait to see what other towns and teams bring players in January. MML was the only town to send a team of middle school players this fall. The formation of a January program will be determined when All Pro knows if there are enough middle school boys for teams or weekly scrambles.
Please expect an email from Mary Alice regarding the monies you have spent.

High School Boys, if we have near 14 boys on a Saturday....the most experienced players will play a game as MML and the newer players will play a scramble. Each group will divide the two hour time block. If, we have fewer players, like last week and this upcoming week, we will play two scrambles. This play will take place from 2-4pm.

All Pro will be open for scramble Saturday November 28th despite it being a holiday weekend. I do not believe our MML coaches will be present 11/28 but there will be qualified coaches present to run scrambles if any of our players, girls or hs boys, wish to join a team.

Thanks to players and parents for your patience. Special thanks to Coaches Bolliger and Gould.

You Make a Difference!

Somedays, MML members offer support to others in outloud and flamboyant gestures.
For instance, last year, we donated five trees to families that did not have holiday trees and could not afford them from our Tsothohrha Tree Festival.
We make charitable play opportunities available to many of our youth members every season.
Parents, coaches and administrators give many young athletes rides to practices and games.
Many children have received scholarship opportunities to camps and clinics.
And sometimes, MML members offer support in quiet, anonymous gestures.

Thank you MML members for the generosity you share.

What is the MML Tsothohrha Tree Festival? Why is my help so important?

Tsothohrha is the Mohawk word for the Moon "Time of Cold".  Native American Mohawk tribes play and played lacrosse and they call and called the game Tewaarathon.
Tewaarathon, in the Mohawk language, means "little brother of war".
MidMaine Lacrosse elected, in tribute to the Mohawk and other Native Americans from whom we borrow the game, to call our tree festival Tsothohrha.

Why host the Tsothohrha Tree Festival?

The festival is fun. The festival serves as a creative fund raising mechanism for our lacrosse organization.  MML does not charge admission to this event.

Area business donated support 'primes the pump' but substantional work is required by players and their parents to put on a successful festival. Players learn and are reminded that lacrosse play opportunity is earned by working hard.
MML fund raises for equipment, paint, balls, rent and referees.
Last year we earned approximately $2000 which helped to fund our 2015 spring season for nearly 100 youth grades K-12.

When is the Tsothohrha Tree Festival?

The festival is free and opens to the public at 3pm Sunday December 6th at the Palmyra Community Center. The festival concludes at 6pm.

There is a rain date (ice storm) on 12/13 3pm.

How do the Trees get Sponsered and Decorated?

For a sponsorship of $50, MidMaine Lacrosse provides a tree with lights which the business may decorate or the business can designate a community or school/booster group to decorate. Each group that decorates a tree receives 50% of the "vote dollars" in their stocking.

What is a Tree Raffle?

The is no admission fee to the festival. It is free to the public.
Festival attendees purchase raffle tickets.
These raffle tickets can be used to purchase food OR to "vote" on a particular tree.
There are stockings positioned by each tree. Raffle tickets are placed into the stockings.
At 5:00pm "voting" ceases.
The tree with the most tickets wins, "Best-In-Show."
Another tree is judged as "Most-True-to-Cause."
Then Santa chooses one ticket from each stocking and the winner wins the tree and all it's decorations and prizes.
