BIO
Chris Richards has been coaching for more than 30 years and has worked with hundreds of high school athletes. He is considered one of the most effective high-school goalie coaches around. As a four-year lacrosse goalie starter at Lake Forest College in Illinois, Chris has a great passion for the goalie position.

Chris specializes in goalie coaching and shooting instruction. With more than 30 years warming up goalies, Chris has a unique perspective on the degrees of shooting, goaltending, and dealing with real-game situations.

Chris cares immensely about his clients’ success and their well-being. Working with a versatile goalie coach like Chris, players can expect to improve exponentially.

Known for his passion to coach, Chris has an innate ability to coach in a way that is both effective and confidence building. Chris applies proper, straightforward instruction with the needed encouragement to succeed.

Chris began coaching in 1985 at Cape Elizabeth High School, where he coached under legendary coach Charlie Burch in 1993. His coaching has since included Freeport, Hyde, and Scarborough high schools before settling at Falmouth High School in 2000 where he coached until 2012 before taking his current job as the goalie coach at the University of New England.

“Coaching is rewarding,” says Chris. “I love to see the smiles when my clients sharpen old skills, learn new skills and then apply that confidence to excel on the field.”

"I have been working with Coach Richards for the past year. His coaching has improved my technique and given me confidence between the pipes. Any goalie looking to improve should work with Coach Richards," says Liam Tucker, 207Lacrosse U15 goalie.

He conducts private goalie sessions, private instruction on shooting, and shooting clinics. Chris will soon offer goalie-specific clinics/camps.
