Greetings from the Ted Hellier Lax Festival Committee!
Although it’s several months away, we are already hard at work on the 3rd Annual Ted Hellier LaxFest, creating a great Lacrosse festival for everyone to enjoy on June 6!
The Ted Hellier Lacrosse Festival is Maine's premiere lacrosse festival. where emphasis is placed on team play, fun and the the enjoyment of fastest game on two feet!
In 2013 the South Portland Split Tournament as renamed the Ted Hellier LaxFest. It was an extremly humble moment for Ted, who soon after the 2013 tournament, lost his battle with cancer. Ted was instrumental in the developing the youth lacrosse program in South Portland. He was a youth coach who believed in his players, all of them. He expected 3 things from his players be relentless, play as team and to have fun! He believed any child could play lacrosse, who had the desire, practiced hard and made the choice to work together as a team. He was an advocate for his boys, both on and off the field and a die hard fan.
For those of you who did not know Ted, he was all about the game and playing as a team, not for the benefit of 1 but for the best interest of the team. He was an amazing father, husband, quiet volunteer, and a strong supporter of youth sports, who encouraged all kids to play. Ted was comfortable in his own skin and encouraged all to be their best.
